Last week, RAD-bloggers Lise Dams and Kirsten van Hooijdonk travelled to Kaunas, Lithuania, for the annual KBS conference. KBS stands for the Kettil Bruun Society for Social and Epidemiological Research on Alcohol and brings together researchers from all over the world who are involved in alcohol research. The conference is therefore the ideal place to meet other scientists (both national and international) working in the field of alcohol prevention.
Lise and Kirsten are both part of the Healthy Student Life research team at Radboud University (RU). During the conference, they presented their research on alcohol consumption among RU students. Lise investigated whether changes in alcohol consumption are linked to changes in academic performance, whilst Kirsten focused on the question whether students substituted alcohol with non-alcoholic alternatives over time.
It was a week full of interesting conversations, engaging discussions and valuable encounters with fellow researchers from The Netherlands and abroad. Are you also conducting research on alcohol consumption? If so, we can highly recommend a visit to the KBS conference. The next edition will take place in Berlin. Will we see you there?
